Wil my sessions be covered under my insurance policy? Your counselling may be covered under your employer or private health plan. Most employee health plans cover counselling by registered counsellors. Check with your provider to see whether you are covered under your plan for registered/certified counselling.
What is your cancellation policy? If you cancel 24hrs in advance of your scheduled session, you will not be billed for your appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24hrs notice are subject to a $100.00 cancellation fee.
Do your work with children and youth? I typically work with clients who are at least 10 years of age and older but some exceptions can be made on a case by case basis. Please contact me to discuss your specific situation.
How many sessions will I need? This is difficult to answer as each persons situation is unique and some situations may be quite complex. In general, clients find that 8-10 sessions goes a long way toward their mental health goals. More complex situations and trauma may require additional sessions but it is always up to you to decide:)
What is your training and experience? I am a trained, licensed therapist and have undergone years of study and training in mental health. I have worked with a diverse range of clients with many types of presenting issues and diagnoses. In addition to my clinical training and experience, I hold a degree in education and have worked in education for 25 years.
Do you work evenings and weekends? I do work some evenings and weekends as I realize that many people find it difficult to keep appointments during normal working hours. Please contact me or refer to my booking page to view my availability.
Where is your office located? I have an office in the heart of Sechelt near the Sechelt Pier which is located along the boardwalk. If you put the address into Google Maps (from my contact page) you can see precisely where my office is located. Please contact me if you need additional clarification or directions.
Do you offer a sliding scale for counselling services? Yes, I offer a sliding scale in certain cases. I encourage you to contact me so we can discuss your specific situation:) My sliding scale is offered on a case-by-case basis as each persons situation is unique.
